The Wise Friend · Story 11 of 15

“Regard a friend as loyal, and you will make him loyal.”
Why this page matters
There is always one child standing a little apart, at the school gate or the edge of the birthday party. Your child often spots them before you do. A quiet “who could you ask to join in today?”, or going over together, can make going first feel like something they are allowed to do.
Joining someone new takes a bit of courage, and children borrow it from the grown-ups around them. When they see you say hello to the new parent at pickup, they see what the first step looks like.
