Patience and presence

They’re never actually late for the thing that matters. The snail on the sidewalk, the weird rock, the puddle. When they stop and you wait with them, you’re not losing time. You’re showing them that what they notice is worth noticing.

They’re not distracted. They’re fascinated. A beetle, a feather, a leaf with holes in it: looking closely is a skill, and it grows when you give it time. The fastest way to teach focus is to let it happen when it’s already happening.
